“Beauty is pain” is a common saying among individuals who engage in uncomfortable rituals to enhance their appearance. But that statement is not universally true! In fact, there are many professional beauty treatments that are surprisingly comfortable, including Opus Plasma skin resurfacing. What is this treatment, and what does it feel like? Continue reading to find out.
What Is Opus Plasma Skin Resurfacing?
Opus Plasma is a unique treatment that combines radiofrequency energy and plasma (superheated gas) to remove targeted layers of skin and stimulate collagen production within the skin’s deeper layers. (Collagen is an important structural protein that is partially responsible for skin’s elasticity and smoothness.)
This treatment can be used to diminish the appearance of:
- Fine lines and wrinkles
- Scars and sun damage
- Uneven skin tone
- Loose and sagging skin
Many patients are pleased to note that they look years younger after just a few Opus Plasma sessions!
What Does the Treatment Feel Like?
You should have a consultation prior to your treatment, during which your care provider will make sure that Opus Plasma is a low-risk service for you. You should not undergo it if you have a sunburn or any open sores on the part of your body that will be treated.
On the day of your service, you can expect your provider to apply a topical numbing agent to your skin before they start treatment. You might experience a mild heating sensation, but there should be no real pain.
There is usually a recovery period of 48 – 72 hours after each session. During that time, your skin might be a bit red and sore. You might look like you have a mild sunburn. Your care provider will give you instructions to minimize any discomfort that you may experience during this window.
Although Opus Plasma may cause mild discomfort, it is much more comfortable than many other treatments, including some popular skin resurfacing options. Such therapies may make you feel like you have severe burns! It is also infinitely more comfortable than invasive cosmetic surgeries.
Is Opus Plasma Worth It?
Opus Plasma can accomplish more than most topical skincare products, and the discomfort is mild enough that it should not prevent you from going about your daily routine. And since it produces amazing results, most patients would agree that it is well worth any minor inconvenience that it might cause!
